Re: windows xp
See the sticky posts at the top of this forum for how to get it running.
The stuff that applies for Win2k also applies for XP.

mbg,
Just click on each of the first 5 posts, they have little red exclamation marks next to them.
Inside most are instructions and scenarios that others have raised in the past so you should have no trouble finding what you need

Re: windows xp
Hello, just emailing to see if I can get some help with Windows XP. I've tried setting the emulation to win95, but that fails to work. It says I have to run setup and then fails when trying to set up directx 3.0. I've seen it mentioned I have to alter the Regedit, but I am unclear how to do it. Could someone please give more detailed instructions on how to do that? I've loved playing the game for years and would like to continue doing so. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated!
Thank you.
Thank you.
Re: windows xp
try running emperor.reg file in your suns folder. That should enter the necessary info in registry.
Re: windows xp
How would I do that?
Where would I go after enter regedit?
I have done almost nothing in the Regedit before.
Thank you.

Re: windows xp
just double-click emperor.reg
You dont have to touch anything else.
Its not in regedit, its standard windows file you'll find in folder where the game is installed.
If you have the pirated version from underdogs that is.If you have original, you shouldnt need it.

Re: windows xp
If installing from CD there are two setup stages, one for DirectX and one that comes after it.
Try, in order:
AUTOPLAY.EXE
SETUP.EXE
_ISSETUP.EXE
I think the first runs the second and the third is the actual install.
There are other posts on how to setup the CD registry entry under 2k/XP to actually play.

Re: windows xp
Hi, I'm new to the forums. I recently found my old copy of EFS and wanted to give it a try again. I got trough the "directX not installed" error by doing the registry tweak posted here earlier, but I can`t make the music run. When the game loads I get a "no music files in this cd" error message. ¿Any clues what might be going on?

Re: windows xp
I hope someone can help me out here. I got EFS to install from my old CD, but when I run the game I'm getting a memory read error. Is there a patch or patches I need to run?
BTW I'm running windows XP SP2..
Thanks.

Re: windows xp
The install program was never made for WinXP. So all tips here are valid also for a install w/ original CD.
Re: windows xp
Sukayo you didnt really answer his question-the underdogs rip actually bypasses that error, but I cant actually get the full cd version to work like him- the memory error happens!
for some reason for the cd version and the rip, the music never plays also, just keeps reading
