A knowledgeable flash-er could recreate the engine in a weekend. I'd be cool if built as just the engine and you created the units, planets and maybe some gameplay options.

I build structures around the planet in clumps to protect from plague, only connected by road.

Actually, If I bombard them from space and then land ground troops I find everyone but the noble takes off.

A good refrence for how much military might the houses should have on a regular basis would be the novel Dune, which is pretty much what the FS universe was based on. They pretty much just have basic infantry the whole time.

Units costing more and taking longer to build would just make it worse because then you'd feel like your not accomplishing anything.
I think making specialty construction units would be a bad idea because then it just wouldn't be EFS anymore.

The map editor still doesent work. It says the dll is in the wrong folder and I can't see it to remove it.

Thats also something that was bugging me but I was hoping that would be fixed in NOVA. I wan't to make skirmishes so multiplayer games will be more condensed because right now they take to long. As for black ops, I think only certain units could do the whole diffrent color thing, like spys and assas...

Houses without scepters are nothing because they can no longer take part in the main part of the game, the voting.
I leave planets as nothing if I don't need them. Usually I wipe another house out to take them out of my mind, one less house to bug me with the threat of war.

I use the eye to know my enemies strengths and if I go to war with someone I use them as a toe in the door. I often use them to weaken the other players, destroy a starport, fatory or so and then just pay off the player, cheaply, because they don't want a war right then.

Capturing Units
Is there a better way to capture units the just attacking and hoping they survive. I wan't to be able to capture nobles that belong to rebels so I can expand the number of planets I can collect taxes from. Usually the rebels will leave all but their noble in a ruins if I've bombed them and I was won...

I learned that orbit is the key to a planetary invasion. You can easily starve someone out by bomibng all their farms and by destroying all theur food resources. Because it's not real life I never give much consideration to the future of a planet and like to leave it pretty much barren. Constant bom...

I don't think that when assasins strike it should be seen as an official act of war. Intrigue is cheapened if your men isn't caught and yet they know who sent 'em. I have some complicated mods I would like to make, based on some great Science Fiction. I wanted to add the ability to capture and ride ...

When I play I don't necessarily use roads, I just build cities in huge clumps, so I don't need them. My strategy is to use space craft to move my units around the planet to scramble a defense. When later in the game I can have 16 units at any location in the heart of my planets, and about 8 on the f...
