Re: New EFS utility

Vlad:

I really want to apologize to you for not putting your utility up on my website.

I've been so out of EFS this past year, but I'm going to try to find some time to get back into EFS this year.

Let me see if I can find my ftp password so I can put your stuff up on my site.

Re: New Galaxies

Subversion is good - there are 5 different Hyperion galaxies on the Hyperion website.

Hyperion Development on Hiatus

It has been a while since I've been to this forum and I apologize for not keeping up with current events, but I simply have not had the brain power to do anything remotely scientific outside of work and so I might as well say that development of the Hyperion mod (if you haven't figured it out alread...

Re: Hyperion Gamma - Bug Report

I would imagine you were using Epoch 1 which only allows building the first set of units (i.e. UNIT1.DAT is rename UNIT.DAT). You need to rename the highest named UNIT?.DAT file (where ? is a number) to UNIT.DAT and then all units will be available. This change was made to allow the AI to build unit...

Re: New player requesting some help

Klaus:

Oh - well silly me! Now I'm dangerous! I guess I'll go back through the topics and make a few of them sticky.

Someone should probably make the NT/2000/XP EFS Install topic sticky in the Fixing It Section since that one comes up a lot!

Thanks!

ForceUser: If you are having trouble defining what the low, medium, and high values need to be, then just start breaking the categories down, define the ranges, and then go from there. Here is an example: Movement Points: 0 - 127 Spotting: 0 - 127 Camoflage: 0 - 127 Agility: 0 - 127 Armor: 0 - 65536...

Re: New player requesting some help

ForceUser: There is no sticky on this forum (I wonder if Klaus could enable sticky's?), but there is a wealth of information here if you want to search or just read previous topics. As far as the movement rates are concerned, to work with how the game generates Random Galaxies, I put certain differe...

Re: How to install?

Beetlecat: Rename the DAT, MANOWITZ, and FLC folders to backup names and then you can extract the files included in the Hyperion ZIP file. This is so that you can play the original EFS in the future by simply renaming folders. Good luck, and be sure to post any comments / suggestions here! Matt

Re: Mouse problems with Hyperion

Nesborn: There should be no difference between EFS.EXE and EFSHYP.EXE as fundamentally, there is no difference between the 2 EXE's (just some data stored in the EXE that has no bearing on any graphical function). So even though you mentioned that EFSHYP.EXE gave you outright crashing and weird color...

Re: Mouse problems with Hyperion

Nesborn: I have not heard of this problem before - it sounds weird. It seems like the same affect from alt-tabbing occurs though. I wonder if a program is switching away and then back. You know, I had a Sound Blaster Audigy Card and the Remote Control Popup was in the upper right. When I played EFS,...

Re: Mouse problems with Hyperion

I doubt if that is an issue with Hyperion - I'm not sure what your problem may be - are you alt-tabbing away from the game and back? That is one way to get your mouse cursor to disappear! If you alt-tab away from the game, there are only certain places in the game where you can do it from safely - l...

Re: Hyperion Gamma Released!

Hey, by the way, if you downloaded the Hyperion Gamma dated 08JAN05, then you need to redownload the one dated 10JAN05 since I goofed up on my auto-generated DAMAGE.DAT and forgot to test it. It was basically being read in as all 0's and so combat would always produce an infinite loop - whoops! So p...

Re: Hyperion Gamma Released!

New Hyperion Gamma Released! See above about how to get it... Only change is the fix to DAMAGE.DAT where it was missing the first row of the damage tables meaning that 10% of the time when a unit hit, it did 0 damage no matter what the attack ratio was. With this fix, the damage table is now complet...

Hyperion Gamma - Bug Report

I just noticed that I am missing a row in DAMAGE.DAT. This means that even if a unit hits another unit, 10% of the time they won't do any damage because of this missing row.

I'll provide a fix for it in the near future.

Matt
