This looks very interesting BrodieBrodie. I just have a couple of general suggestions: 1. Get the various parts of the engine fairly well developed before going and adding EFS-specific features. 2. Generalise where you can - e.g. with the "ships having crew and captains" idea, allow the en...

noop, but it looks like a lot of the old long time members here are now too old to play around EFS, and spend the time left to other newer games ;). Also keeping up a website needs some investment of at least time. I for my part am glad, that the NOVA and Hyeperion site is still up. Yes everyone mo...

Re: Tinkering with the AI

There's many decompilers out there, and efforts to decompile right back to source (which can then be recompiled back to a working EXE) usually stumble a fair bit. Going from machine code -> assembly isn't too hard (though figuring out what the assembly does is). Going from assembly -> C/C++ source i...

Re: Dune Mod

ForceUser: Some quickish answers to some questions. 1. Certain attacks will hit certain units, there's a table that outlines them in one of the dat files. 2. +3 agility 3. As far as I know crawler units are the only movement class that will open fire on bombarding starships. The naval class has issu...

Re: clone

busyme: You can't just 'use' code files with EFS, some things can be done with mods, others need source code or very creative EXE hacking.

That was the primary reason the clone project was established, to do things we currently can't :)

Re: Mouse problems with Hyperion

As a random guess, something may be stealing the window focus temporarily and then returning it to the game. This could be something, say, on your system tray, popping up a little message. Check programs running in the background and shut them off to test (do not compromise security doing so though!...

Re: Favorite Online Games

Except at the moment the space component is very limited :)

All the action happens planetside, or on a space station in orbit and the actual gameplay is not tied very strongly to the background anyway.

Re: Favorite Online Games

How much do you need to get started? In theory, nothing. There are some activities anybody can carry out (mainly collecting stuff worth little to nothing in raw value) and then sell the proceeds of these activities to others. That takes a while though (weeks, months :/). In practice, hmm, US$20 will...

Re: Favorite Online Games

What do I like about Project Entropia? Mainly the fact that when I do something it has real value so it feels like I'm always making progress. There's also freedom - if I don't want to play for a month, 2 months, 4 months it doesn't cost me anything. And when I get tired of playing I can sell all my...

Re: Hyperion Corinthian Galaxy Gamma Test - Comments / Discu

Some extra notes: I captured the church on Severus, it was the first thing I did (with a horde of milita). The only buildings not under my control are 3 empty rebel cities, the agora and the imperial eye fort. The moves on earth were almost solely in response to denying Hazat the income from two roy...

Re: Hyperion Corinthian Galaxy Gamma Test - Comments / Discu

Fighting the good fight with the Decados It took an entire day for me to analyse and plot and plan for the first turn, and it was influced a fair bit by Hazat's evil plan to dominate the world with captured League Ships :) Trait Selection - Well I selected my usual spread of single-player traits, wh...

Re: New petition

Yes they do read and sometimes respond to mail sent to them via the website and I'm not sure if their contract has expired yet that would allow them to release source.

Mike was certainly working on interesting stuff and I believe still is.
